Hi there! I´m a big MGS fan since MGS1 for PSone. As a kid i thought that MGS is the best video game ever. And now that i´m a grown-up i still think that this is true. And now i can´t wait to play MGS 5. But i´m not shure if it is great that it will be open-world. The biggest complain about the MGS-francise was that it is too limited in terms of freedom to play and that there is just one way to play it. I think it was good ( and enough) that you could switch between action and stealth in MGS 4. What is your opinion? Do you think that and open-world style allows the story to be as complex as it was in the past?

Same here, MGS for NES was groundbreaking, literally a "game changer." I loved MGS1 and 2, and still consider MGS3 my most fun and satisfying video gaming experience ever. MGS4 was great, but it just feels like the story has been told and the rest is filler. I'm looking forward to part 5, but I think what made it unique and special was that old-school style of interface. The 1st person just makes it feel like Halo or Call of Duty.

May 1999 I had just saved up a months full of my paper round money. I had a choice. 2 games were available the first was a game called The Apocalypse starring Bruce Willis which got alot of buzz as it signaled Hollywood coming into games. The 2nd was a small game called Metal Gear Solid.. I went into Games Arena in Paignton for £39.99 I finally went for MGS. And I will never... ever regret it. It truely is one of. If not the most influential games/ films (yes I said films because it is an interactive film I dont care what anyone says) and so 4 installments later with a fifth next year MGS will always have a place in my teenage years. Its just scary that its been 14 years since I first played it.

Ha, I remember that Willis game. It was awful! His face was pasted on a horrible looking body.
I wish they'd update MGS1 for the new systems. They did one for Gamecube which was okay, but I think it would still be great if they upgraded it to PS3/4. Solid vs Liquid Snake is still my favourite rivalry in any Metal Gear Solid game.

Yea just seems stupid that it hasnt been HD-fied ya know as to me anyway its the best of the series (the best is yet to come song just gets me every time). Though iam gonna assume like me when you first played MGS4 when Snake has "the dream" of Shadow Moses (ps1 graphics) thenreplayin that level in ps3 tech my jaw hit the ground
