Get Busy Filming OR Get Busy Trying

Let's face it, the reviews for AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY were rather mixed despite the movie holding an 8.1/10 on IMDb. I loved the film, it was like going right back to Middle Earth but I can definitely see both sides of the argument. And although ORLANDO BLOOM is returning as Legolas- I wonder if he alone can bring in some more audience members and sell tickets? some trailer comments I've read/heard: dislike of the look of SMAUG, SMAUG'S reveal scene, too much CGI (a fest).
So.. my question isn't how the reviews will turn out but rather: how much bank will THE HOBBIT PART 2 bank? MORE than AUJ, about the same or more as the LOTR trilogy?
Midnight showings.. Opening day.. Opening weekend.. (both intern. and domestic #s)
BONUS: I read an article SUGGESTING that PJ MAY make MORE LOTR films after The Hobbit trilogy is all done with.. IF that is true- what do YOU think?

From someone that read the book, i can guarantee that the DOS will be more fast-paced that the AUJ with more action scenes, i think probably it will be better film, interesting to see the new characters (Beorn, Bard, Master of Laketown, Smaug) and also the Necromancer thing. 2 of my concerns are still the overuse of CGI (i still don't understand why they scrapped the bigatures) and the Tauriel character, i'm optimistic

Too much of a sausage party to see in the theater. I guess Orlando Bloom counts as a chick, but it's just not enough.

for me, the first part was too long, but still, it's lotr universe, i'll go and see almost anything related to peter jackson's take. would be great to see more middle earth movies besides lotr and the hobbit but i don't think people would go see stories out of 'the silmarilion'. i think people need a more direct link to the first trilogy. besides it, looking forward to december for this one!

Like lebowski, I'll go see almost anything if Peter Jackson has anything to do with it. And I agree the first movie was too long. I don't understand why they had to put so much extra crap into it. Does every movie involving middle earth have to be 3 hours long. Holy crap, the scene in Bilbo's hobbit hole was like an hour long. Can't we just tell the story instead of embellishing it. It's Tolkien, and it's Middle Earth, and the Shire. That enough for me. Let's just tell the story and not bog it down with made up stuff. The story is complicated as it is, so Jackson's idea is to throw these other characters in that no one's ever heard of before. I just don't get it.

i just could not get into an unexpected journey, it felt too easy for the characters to advance on their travels. the battle escape scene with the goblins just looked like they were along for the ride and that nothing could stop them. to be honest i still think the fellowship of the ring is the best one out of the lot.
